Research Policy Discourse
RESEARCH
Research is the foundation of everything we do. We produce rigorous, context-rooted studies that draw from history, society, economy, and culture to understand Punjab’s present realities. Our work combines empirical data with lived experiences to generate knowledge that is both credible and relevant.
POLICY
Our policy work bridges scholarship and action. We translate research insights into practical, evidence-based policy recommendations aimed at institutions, lawmakers, and civil society. The goal is to inform decision-making that is inclusive, forward-looking, and responsive to the region’s real needs.
DISCOURSE
We believe ideas gain power through dialogue. Punjab Dialogues creates spaces for critical conversation—bringing together scholars, practitioners, artists, and citizens to debate, reflect, and re-imagine collective futures. Through open discourse, we challenge dominant narratives and nurture informed public engagement
ABOUT US
Critics often accuse Punjab of dominating Pakistan’s politics, military & bureaucracy, arguing that resources, budgets, & policies favor it while Sindh, Balochistan, & Kpk remain marginalized. Allegations include unequal water distribution, unfair NFC awards, overrepresentation in parliament, & cultural dominance that sidelines regional identities—creating the image of Punjab as a “big brother” province monopolizing benefits at others’ expense. Punjab views these claims as inaccurate or overstated. It argues its larger population justifies greater representation & that federal spending reflects its demographic weight & economic contribution, as it produces the largest share of agriculture, industry, & taxes. On water, Punjab points to legal frameworks & notes its own shortages. Culturally, Punjabis claim they enrich national identity rather than suppress diversity. Thus, Punjab sees itself not as an oppressor but as the federation’s backbone, unfairly resented for its central role.
